"T PAIN" has long since been my favorite of the signs. It's not due to the fact that I am a huge T-Pain fan.
That’s not entirely true. If there is something out there that I know I will end up glomming onto so much so that it would interfere with my other obsessions, I won’t let myself get into it.

I have plenty of obsessions already; football (see post below), comedy, I recently watched the first 3 seasons of the A-team in a row (its really just the same show over and over again in different locations) and it took over my life (I learned better with Knight Rider, I only watched the first season before giving it up) and all kinds of other things.

This is why people are shocked to find out that I have never watched shows like Buffy or The X-Files, that I have never played D&D or I that I don’t read comic books. I know that they would take over my life. I have plenty of other obsessions, thank you very much.

I have always been good at keeping the “new” things at bay, not letting myself obsess over the obsessions I don't yet have. In recent years I have stopped obsessing over the obsessions I do have, except for football. I did not stop enjoying the things I liked; I just let them have less influence over me. It was a pretty easy transition. There was an unforeseen side effect when I let go of obsessional influence; I turned into a boring person.

In the spirit of 2012 Doing Stuff, I have fully embraced my obsessions and let them take a toll on my life. I have gone back to my Google Reader, I have started keeping this website up to date, I am getting more involved in art, I’m making videos (again see post below and this post will get there). I am also letting what I watch influence my work. I’m letting all it in baby!

One of the recent obsessions has been Toddlers & Tiaras. Don't judge. I take in plenty of "high class" stuff. Sometimes you need to just watch something easy. Shut off your brain and laugh. T&T is streaming on Netflix. It’s easy, it’s convenient, it’s fun. I need to point out, that I don’t watch it alone, that would be creepy. My girlfriend has watched every episode too.

Each show is built around the same template; it’s ultra-predictable TV. So you could kinda say that it is just like watching the A-Team. In every episode of the A-Team, B.A. and the guys wind up in a garage or barn where they have to build a machine to get them out of a sticky situation. And in every episode of Toddlers & Tiaras you get moms who take their daughters, that you would think are to young to get spray tanned, spray tanned or do the spray tanning them selves. In every episode of the A-Team Hannibal says “I love it when a plan comes together.” In every episode of Toddlers & Tiaras you get some version of the line “Go glitz or go home.”

Recently while I was on my A-Team kick, I decided that I needed to dress like Mr. T. I found out it is a bit expensive to pull off the look and there is potential to look a little foolish. So now that I am on to watching Toddlers & Tiaras, I have decided it is time for me to Go Glitz Or Go Home and make some art.

So I fired up the cameras and got someone to spray me down. I am working on my next video right now. Here is some of the process.
the stuff, pale right after, streak on ankle, tan line, still bronzing

If you don't like cake and football you will like it as well. I'l be honest with you, there is no way you will not like this video.

The Regret Project is built from a simple statement, "tell me your greatest regret and i'll turn it into street art".

From what I can tell the project has only been going on for a few weeks but is already fulfilling on the promise of making work. It seems simple enough, you, the regretter anonymously (or not) submit your regret on a website (regretproject.org). If chosen your deepest darkest feelings might be transferred from inner thoughts to public art.

The documented work so far has been made out of everything from subway ads, to projection bombs to televisions. The work is being documented on a companion tumblr site (regretproject.tumblr.com).

Make sure to check out the work and leave a regret. I have. When I was living in Alabama I could find new music all the time. I heard it live almost every weekend. It is not as easy to find new music in New York. The bars/clubs have bills are jammed full of bands that don't necessarily fit together and when you get to the door they ask you "What band are you here to see?" When money is tight it is hard to pay 10 bucks on something that you don't know if you are going to like or not. Sadly, this has stopped me from walking into someplace and finding new music. For some reason it has also stopped me from listening to music that I would not see live. I may have bought 3 albums in the last three years.

It's a shame.
As the music faded away from my life I found a new vice…. podcasting. I have a real podcasting problem. An addiction. Already this week (it's Friday) I've listened to at least 11 hours of podcasts and I am sure that I will listen to at least 4 or 5 more hours before the week is over.

I don't want to completely free myself from the podcast, I just want to supplement it. My plan for 2012 Doing Stuff! is to listen to an new/new to me album for every hour of podcasting I listen to. To make this happen, I need your help and suggestions. Point me in the right direction or send me stuff you think I will dig.
